Marvel Comics would have been nothing without its most dynamic early artist, Jack Kirby, who set the standard for all comic book art, and was kind of forgotten or set aside during his last years as an artist because he fought Marvel for control of his original drawings -- and Stan Lee, much more vocal and visible -- was the "face" of Marvel Comics. But finally, his work and his life is being more recognized. Two new biographies are coming out, and today there's a NY Times op-ed.
My friend, Mark Evanier, is authoring one of the books and he is always reminding us in his entertaining and irreplaceable blog.
