Guzzling.

The ultrasound on Saturday morning indicated a blocked kidney. Doc sent me to ER for a CAT scan. The doctor there just told me to take pain pills and drink a lot of fluids.

Same old, same old.

But the mystery remains. Why so many? And why now?

He did mention salt. And I laughed, telling him I'm from the South, where salt is a food group.

So, I've been watching my salt intake. Guzzling homemade lemonade. He said citrus helps.

The pain is not the worst I've felt -- maybe that's ahead -- but it's hard to function, especially sleep, unless I take something.

And now, I wait it out.

And guzzle.

Steve, just read in the Boston Globe this morning that there's a link between kidney stones and diabetes. This is not new news, except to me. I saw it in a Q&A about a link between calcium supplements and kidney stones (the article explains that the body processes calcium in supplements differently than it processes it in food). The article also says that people who eat a low-calcium diet are also much more likely to have kidney stones. (So eat more kale!) These might be areas to explore as you're trying to figure out the puzzle. HTH. Hugs to you, - liz

Liz, the first thing my doctor did was stop my calcium supplements. So, I think you're on the right track.

Yes, salt is not a food group any longer. And has the doc suggest any substitute for the calcium pills?

Nothing yet, Mage. My calcium levels were good, so we'll cross that bridge if it comes at us.
