New Cast!

I'm happy to be the first to announce the new cast of The Big Voice.

Dale Radunz (pictured) will be playing the role of "Jim."

Carl Danielson will be playing the role of "Steve." (Photo posted below).

They came to the auditions and totally blew us away. Dale is a tall, deadpan veteran actor with this stentorian voice. When he started reading the lines, we were on the floor, hurting. He has this ability to slay you with a glance. He will bring an amazing new dimension to the role because he approaches differently from Jim, but has all the same ability to keep you in stitches.

Carl is a brilliant musician and is totally adorable. Again, he's completely different from me, which I consider to be a really good thing. He'll be able to create a new approach and it won't feel like he's trying to recreate what I do.

We start rehearsals tomorrow and I am so excited, I can't stand it.

Also, after Jim's and my last performance, this Sunday at 3pm, we will be having a talkback session. So, bring your questions!

Is it weird to have someone else playing YOU?

As long as he's as cute as Carl, it doesn't bother me a bit!

Wow--that's going to be SO strange, to think of someone else in those roles--especially people who are so physically different from you two. Wish I could be there to see them open!

Our first rehearsal was today and they were better than I remembered from the auditions. You know, most people, when they see a show, sometimes have problems seeing another actor in the role they have emotionally bonded to. This really isn't that different. My feeling is that people who see Big Voice for the first time with Carl and Dale are going to find it hard to see anyone but THEM in the roles.

Well, we got used to different Gideons...can different "Steves" and "Jims" be that much more difficult?

I think it's different show to show, and how "emotionally attached" you are, like Steve eluded to, to the particular actors' performances. But if the new actors bring enough of their own performances, which by all means they should, there shouldn't be any need to compare what's "better"

True. And think how interesting it will be to have an "actor" playing the role of "Steve". (ducking)

Very true and... hey wait a minute!

awww...the magic is gone. You didn't tell me to shut up. How quickly they forget...

My wife & I and my son & his wife saw the show back in late December and absolutely loved it. The idea of a new "Steve" and a new "Jim" was a bit startling at first but when I think about it I realize that the writing and the music are so good that it should continue to be a magical evening.
