Hey Steve!

I was thinking about you and the guys from your old band a few days ago, decided to google your name, and there you are!

Do you remember a dark-haired little girl about 10 years younger than you that used to hang out in the bookstore her mama owned, back in Jacksonville?

Yep...that was me. Happy Birthday!

BarefootLucy (not my name wayyyy back then!)

Thank you all so much for your kind wishes. And BarefootLucy, I remember the bookstore very well! If you were 10 years younger than me, then that made you about 10 years old, didn't it?

10 years old - that's about right! Just the right age to be totally in awe of you guys in DR.

I always wondered what happened to you after you moved on. Looks like you've traveled quite a winding road and managed to make your life meaningful and full. I'm glad for you!

DR (post SS) played together again last weekend, and I went to hear them but the opening band played too long and I had to go, so I missed them. Reminded me of the old concerts at the outdoor amphitheater though. Very cool.

I am 53. Of course, I barely look 29.

Lucy, I tried to get DR to let me join them in their concert, but I was basically told that I was a sinner and that, unless I leave my husband and "repent" of my fabulous gayosity, I could forget it.

I'm terribly sorry to hear that. What a shame! Y'all were a great group when you were a part of it.

We all are sinners, aren't we? I have a hard enough time keeping my own life in check to try and keep someone else's scorecard too. Thankfully, we'll all be judged by someone far more capable!

I remember you as a person with a caring spirit and a love for life and I believe that is still who you are!

DR's fearless leader is very harshly judgmental about these things. If it were up to the other guys, I'd have been there. But T just has this really huge problem with gay people. I could speculate about why, but it wouldn't be productive.
